A landlord can increase rent whenever they see appropriate so long as they give notice of the increased rent. The required notice depends on the frequency of paying rent, for example, one weeks notice if rent is paid weekly or one month if rent is paid monthly. The tenant must pay the increased rate as per the landlord’s instructions, otherwise, they must find alternative accommodation. However, this is subject to conditions including rent caps for Rent Pressure Zones.
