What does it mean when the tenant is upholding the property?

Overholding the property means that the tenant remains residing in the property and paying rent, despite the expiration of a valid Notice of Termination. The tenant is required to continue paying rent, and the landlord receiving such rent is not an indication of renewing the tenancy. This can only be done where the landlord withdraws the Notice of Termination.
