If, in the failure to pay their mortgage on the rental property, a landlord’s property is repossessed by the mortgage lender, the tenant may still continue to occupy the property as per the terms in the tenancy agreement. However, the tenant must pay their rent to the receiver appointed by the mortgage lender rather than the landlord.
This issue will come into play only when the property is being possessed by the mortgage lenders, not when the mortgage is simply in arrears.
