You need a BER certificate to sell your house. This has been a legal requirement since January 1, 2009. Some buildings are exempt from this such as, protected structures and places of worship, are exempt.
Someone who wants to make improvements to the energy rating of their home can get a BER certificate to help them figure out where they should start with their renovations. A BER certificate normally costs around €200 for a two-bedroom apartment to €250 or more for a detached property.
A1 (the best) to G (the poorest). Homes with an A1 rating are the most energy-efficient and have the lowest utility expenses.
