What tenancies come within the remit of the RTB?

The Residential Tenancies Board covers private rented accommodation, and as of 2019, student accommodation also. The RTB covers situations where tenancies and lease agreements are in place.

The following tenancies do not come within the remit of the RTB:
I. A tenancy in local authority housing.
II. ‘Rent-a-room’ schemes.
III. A family member of the landlord where there is no written lease in place.
IV. Short-term holiday letting agreements. E.g AirBNB.
